Accessibility statement

What currently meets WCAG 2.2 AA, what does not yet, and how to tell us about a barrier. Including the gaps we have not solved.

01

Our commitment

An exam preparation platform that a blind candidate cannot use is not preparing that candidate. We target WCAG 2.2 Level AA across the mobile app and this website, and we treat an accessibility defect as a bug rather than an enhancement request.

This page states honestly where we currently meet that target and where we do not. A statement that claims full conformance without qualification is almost always untrue.

02

Current status

This website is substantially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. We are aware of no outstanding AA failures.

The mobile app is partially conformant. Core flows — sign-in, browsing, taking an exam, reviewing answers — meet AA. Some secondary screens have known gaps, listed below.

03

What is in place

  • Every interactive control has an accessible name for screen readers.
  • Colour contrast meets AA in both light and dark themes, and colour is never the only way information is conveyed.
  • The whole app respects your operating system text size, up to 200 per cent, without clipping.
  • The website is fully keyboard navigable, with a visible focus ring and a skip-to-content link.
  • Animation is decorative only. Setting reduce motion in your OS disables it, and nothing depends on it.
  • Exam timers can be read by a screen reader without losing your place in the paper.
  • Every listening clip has a full transcript, which also serves as a captions equivalent.
  • Form errors are announced, associated with their field, and described in words rather than colour.

04

Known gaps

Stated plainly, with what we are doing about each:

  • Image-based questions. Traffic sign and diagram questions have alt text describing the image, but a description detailed enough to answer the question would give the answer away. We are working on a format that serves screen-reader users without defeating the assessment, and we do not yet have a good answer.
  • Performance heatmap. The activity heatmap is currently visual only. A tabular equivalent is in development.
  • Some community screens. Deeply nested reply threads can be awkward to navigate with a screen reader. Being reworked.
  • Nepali screen-reader support. Depends heavily on the handset. We have improved labelling but cannot fix platform-level Nepali text-to-speech quality.

05

Assistive technology we test with

  • TalkBack on Android 13 and 14
  • VoiceOver on iOS 17 and 18
  • NVDA on Windows, for this website
  • Operating system text scaling at 150 and 200 per cent
  • Reduce motion and increase contrast settings on both platforms

Testing is done on real devices by people who use these tools, not solely with automated checkers. Automated tools catch perhaps a third of real problems.

06

Examination adjustments

Candidates entitled to extra time in an official examination can set matching extended time on our mock papers, so practice matches the conditions you will actually sit under. Settings → Accessibility → Extended time.

If you need an adjustment we do not currently offer, write to us. We would rather build it than have you prepare under the wrong conditions.

07

Access is not only about disability

We treat low bandwidth, older handsets and metered data as access issues too, because in Nepal they exclude far more people than any single impairment does.

  • The app is built and tested against three- and four-year-old Android handsets.
  • Full offline study, so an unreliable connection does not end a session.
  • Low data mode, and no background prefetching of audio or images ever.
  • A cash payment route through partner institutes, for candidates with no bank or wallet.

08

Reporting a barrier

If something is not usable for you, tell us at hello@lacspace.com with “Accessibility” in the subject. Include your device, your assistive technology and what you were trying to do.

We acknowledge within two working days and give you a realistic timeline rather than a reassuring one. Where a fix will take time, we will tell you the workaround in the meantime.

09

How this is maintained

Accessibility is reviewed as part of every release rather than audited annually. Automated checks run on every build; manual screen-reader testing is done on any flow that changed.

This statement is reviewed quarterly and whenever a listed gap is closed. It was last reviewed on the date at the top of this page.
