JFT-Basic in Nepal: bookings for December 2026 to January 2027 tests open on 25 November

Prometric, which runs the Japan Foundation Test for Basic Japanese (JFT-Basic), announced on 15 October 2026 that reservations for December 2026 to January 2027 test dates will open on 25 November 2026. In Nepal, booking opens at around 12:45 PM Nepal time, which is about 4:00 PM Japan time.

The previous round, for October to November 2026 test dates, opened in Nepal at around 12:45 PM on 29 September 2026.

Test centres in Nepal

Prometric's overseas schedule (updated 15 October 2026) lists these centres. The names changed with effect from 2 October 2026:

  • Kathmandu ULCI A / B (previously Kathmandu Dillibazar A / B)
  • Kathmandu Alfa Beta (previously Kathmandu Bagmati)
  • Lalitpur Alfa Beta (previously Lalitpur)
  • Pokhara Infomax College (previously Pokhara)

Booking rules to know

  • Reservations open in stages by test date, time and test centre. Seats are limited.
  • When traffic is heavy you may be placed in a virtual waiting room. Waiting does not guarantee a seat.
  • Try to finish your booking within about 20 minutes, or you may be sent back to the queue.
  • Bookings cannot be cancelled. You can change the date, time or venue until 23:59 Japan time three business days before the test, if seats are available.
  • For tests on weekends or Japanese public holidays, apply at least four business days in advance.
  • First-time candidates need a Prometric ID. Register your name exactly as it appears on your documents.
